Arlington, VA—Segue Technologies® has been appraised at maturity Level 3 of the Software Engineering Institute’s (SEI) Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI). The appraisal was performed by LuMark Technologies, Inc.
CMMI is a process improvement approach that provides organizations with the essential elements of effective processes that ultimately improve their performance. An appraisal at maturity level 3 indicates the organization is performing at a “defined” level. At this level, processes are well characterized and understood, and are de-scribed in standards, procedures, tools, and methods. The organization’s set of standard processes, which is the basis for maturity level 3, is established and improved over time.
Segue’s CMMI v1.3 appraisal for Development involved verification and validation of the corporation’s AppDev unit processes on two large application development efforts, a major sustainment effort, overall Corporate Quality Assurance practices, and its Process Improvement infrastructure. Segue’s AppDev Unit develops and produces all software products and services that the corporation undertakes supporting each business division: DoD, USAF, USN/USMC, Federal Non-DoD, Non-Profit, Commercial, and Health IT. Segue/AppDev is comprised of Software Engineers, Business and System Analysts, Design/Usability Specialists, a Quality Control Unit (which has been appraised previously for CMMI-SVCs for Testing at Level 2), operating under the guidelines of the corporate Project Management Office (PMO).
Segue’s AppDev team is rich in subject matter experts in software engineering solutions and has been at the forefront of innovative development trends since the company’s founding in 1997. Executive Vice-President and Segue CMMI Appraisal sponsor Mike Behrmann views this Segue achievement as well-deserved recognition of the organization’s commitment to excellence. “It is rewarding to have an esteemed organization validate and verify the high standards of our processes and commitment to quality software solutions,” said Behrmann. “Our staff is comprised of highly skilled individuals who are committed to excellence and this verification of how we operate means a lot to all of us. Segue will continue to strive to improve further and is looking forward to future IT challenges with the confidence that our foundation is solid.”
CMMI is the result of more than 20 years of ongoing work at Carnegie Mellon University by members of industry, government, and the Software Engineering Institute (SEI). Powered by Carnegie Mellon, the CMMI Institute is working to build upon CMMI’s success, advance the state of the practice, accelerate the development and adoption of best practices, and provide solutions to the emerging needs of businesses around the world.
