Arlington, VA, – Segue is competing in the American City Business Journal’s (ACBJ) second annual social media competition to benefit the Arlington Street People’s Assistance Network (A-SPAN). The “Social Madness” competition begins with four local rounds, through which competitors in different size categories (small, medium and large) are whittled down to three finalists. The local rounds are followed by a national round which includes top finishers from all 44 ACBJ markets. The three companies that are left standing at the conclusion of the national round will be awarded $10,000 for the charity of their choice.
After advancing through the first two local rounds, Segue has pledged to support A-SPAN and their mission of ending homelessness in Arlington and beyond. While the ultimate goal is winning the grand prize for A-SPAN, Segue seeks to use the competition to raise awareness of the issue of homelessness in Arlington and to share A-SPAN’s success stories in finding people homes.
“Part of Segue’s business philosophy is to be active in our local community, supporting the people and other small businesses that are our neighbors,” said Ron Novak, Segue’s Executive Vice President. “A-SPAN is an organization that supports those in our community who have the greatest need and their actions not only improve the lives of those individuals, but make Arlington a better place to live and work every day.”
During Social Madness, competitors are scored on the amount of votes received on socialmadness.com, as well as their social engagement on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Google+. The contest rules define social engagement as, “likes, comments, and shares of a company’s posts by their followers.”
“A-SPAN cannot end homelessness in Arlington without the support of business partners in our community like Segue.” said Kathleen Sibert, A-SPAN’s Executive Director. “We are thrilled to have Segue as a partner.”

A-SPAN provides life-sustaining services for Arlington’s homeless, which include daily street outreach, drop-in services such as showers, laundry, and food, and a bagged meal program serving up to 80 individuals 365 days a year. A-SPAN operates the Arlington County Emergency Winter Shelter from November 1 – March 31. A-SPAN offers a wide variety of housing opportunities with case management services through the Permanent Supportive Housing Program and the Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program.
